Vancouver is located in British Columbia on a peninsula. Due to its location, there are a variety of outdoor activities you can enjoy in Vancouver throughout the year. Whether you enjoy being outside during the warm summer months, or cooler winter months, there is something for everyone in Vancouver.
Considering your preferences and favorite outdoor activities, you can find plenty to do in Vancouver. Here are the best outdoor activities to try in Vancouver:
Hiking
Vancouver has several mountains within a convenient distance that are great for hiking in warmer weather. You can check out Grouse Mountain, and if you like a challenge, you can try the strenuous trail called the Grind. You can hike to the top of the mountain to enjoy great views, have some food, try out a zip line, and take the gondola back down.
If you are less interested in hiking but still enjoy the views, you can take the gondola up as well as down. You can also take a hike to Lighthouse Park. Once you get there you can choose from several trails to check out some tide pools.
Skiing
If you prefer heading to the mountains when there is snow on the ground, head to Grouse Mountain for skiing in winter. Only a short drive from Vancouver, Grouse Mountain is a great option for outdoor recreation in winter as well.
If you are up for a longer ride, head about 2 hours outside the city to Whistler Blackcomb. Here you can enjoy some amazing skiing, as well as several snowboarding parks. (You can also enjoy outdoor activities like fishing, biking, and hiking here in the summer.) With so many great options for winter outdoor recreation, Vancouver will keep outdoor lovers busy all year long.
